Last weekend was the start of the race season, Steetly DH / BMX Nationals / UCI World Cup.
Steetly DH was awsome a great turnout and loads of fun. The track had been around for months and was riding very good on saturday, too good infact with 3 hospital visits within a week, 1 - Broken nose 1 - Broken leg 1 - Broken vertebrae and ribs get well soon people. The race it self went ahead with a few last minute changes to make the track safer an more enjoyable, loads of people turned up to race and probably more people turned up to watch. The race was well organised and fast racing against the clock makes the track ace and with everyone cheering it feels like a mini world cup. Ripper roberts lived up to his name by ripping two rear mechs off within half hour, unlucky DNF!!!!!!!!!
Alex Rolls made the trip down from sheffield and raced without even seeing the track navigating his way down the new track in 1:12 and improving by 10 seconds in his second run. We all knew batey would take the fastest time and he made it look easy. Mayes raced and posted a time of 53.82, my fastest time was a 51.31.
Derby BMX national - The 1st BMX national for DBMX riders, not sure what happened as i wasnt there but the team did well for their first outing. Jonny's category was the most stacked with 20+ riders in his group which made racing really hardwork for the youth. Carr had a busy category with Dale holmes racing in his category the lad did ok though, more road miles for you!!! Grant beat Dom which is always good haha, he did well in most of his races.
The UCI DH and 4X race took place in RSA, and it was good to watch all the pro's back on form and doing what they do best all the action can be watched at www.freecaster.tv
Next month is another busy one - Rotherham, Peterbough, Rebel Racing round 2, Burnham National BMX and the MBUK live Dual Slalom event!!!

Recent riding
Riding recently has been great. For the 1st time since when I started riding I have ridden my bike for 8 days in a row.
TEAM EXTREME were down at the hexthorpe track to create awarness about the track and hopefuly get more people riding, all that I noticed was more chavvy kids eyeing everyones bikes up. Was a good day and hopefully the track changes will take place.
As the DBMX crew has been riding alot recently this has resulted in some crashes none too serious but could of been a lot worse all I can say is please wear your helmet especially when riding big FUCKING trails and DH tracks.

Cheers
Kellett

Are you ready to STEP UP???

God i'm tired, another great days racing.
New track this week well for the most of the DBMX crew, the previous reports that we'd heard about the track been big and lengthy were correct although the track dosnt look that long when your riding/racing it felt endless.
With the event been an inter-regional and the only time to race Derby before the national next month all of the categories were stacked well apart from the 3 man MTB category haha.
Grant Hill - Fresh from a mid week training session was looking very fast although turning up late, his category was stacked with 2 full gates worth of riders. I think he took every race with a nice victory. The racing was close between him and Dom in the final with Grant making a good move on the last berm.
Jonny Woodward - A STUPIDLY stacked junior men category for jonny to contend with and damm them kids are fast, most would do well in the 19+ category. A mixed batch of results for him mainly the top 3 I think with a 4th place finish in the A - Final
Chabz Woodward - Not even phased by the fact that she was totally in the wrong category a 10 year old girl racing against 10-13 year old lads, although saying that she still beat some of the lads in a few races, I think she needs to move into the girls expert category. She also got to meet her hero who scribbled on her hoody, the bloke from Blue Peter - I reckon she'd beat him in a race.
Carl Dixon - Cruiser Carl stepping it up in yet another stacked category another 2 gates worth of riders made for interesting racing. The gates where good from Carl but a lack of jumping confidence ment the lead was lost come the 1st jump - Think me and Carl need to hit some trails - a 2nd 3rd 4th and a 4th in the final for Carl put an end to a long race day.
Adam Carr - Man of the day me thinks, for once he wasn't taking it easy he had to work for his dinner, the 19+ cat was stacked with elite riders, fast junior men and the regular fast riders from the 19+ category. It was time for racing national style. Everyone is this category had the snap Kelvin was stupidly fast off the gate but closley followed by the rest of the crew. Every moto was stacked for 19+ Adam did well thou getting - 1st 2nd 3rd in his motos and a 3rd in his pointless semi final - most of the riders went home - This just left 8 riders for the final!!! NO HOLDING BACK, although it was just A inter regional all of the riders left the gate flat out, Adam got snapped like a KitKat but did amazingly well to get back to 4th place in the 1st berm a few more roadd miles and some gate practice he will be perfect in the ELITE CATEGORY.
Me - Chris Kellett!!! - After an early start 8:00 thats early for me, we made our way to Derby via Mal G's van. Getting there about half 8 we saw Blue Peter snapping some gates which ment the track was closed till gone half ten. I liked the 1st and last straight but the second one was just stupidly TECH even the pro's were struggling the head wind didn't thou. The MTB category was the most stacked category of the day with a whole THREE riders o well at least the worst I could do was 3rd. ME and my new arch rival Kriss Brown where on the gate and it was the exact repeat of harwoth although Kriss' gates have improved all 2nds for me, and a good days racing was had. Maybe next time Kriss haha.
Overall another good days racing for the DBMX crew, most of us didn't like the track maybe because we are unfit haha.
Derby national next month
ADAM CARR MUST RACE ELITE
EDIT: I've just had some bad news about Jordan who crashed in the junior men A final unfortunatly he is currently in intensive care - Heeling vibes from the DBMX crew.

Racing is Back!!!!
The winter is over and the 2009 race season has started, the start of a busy 2009 season was started with a Midlands regional race at local track Harwoth.
The track had recently been resurfaced and was riding amazingly fast and the weather was rather good.
The majority of the DBMX crew arrived, Brad was otherwise occupied, and Ginner was on holiday again.
Once everybody had arrived and eventually woke up, we all sessioned the gate to see if we still had the snap and we did, Grant Hill's winter training seems to of worked that kid was flying arch rival Dom from rotherham seemed to be his only threat haha. Adam Carr was up to his normal routine of pulling silly tricks over the jumps even with his quick release front wheel.Tommy Lee was around and made an appearence every hour not sure how his races went. Mr Dixon who had been doing some winter training was hard to spot in his new white racegear, people was use to seeing him in the good old blue and orange.
Racing was started after all 155 riders where entered into the computer system which took sometime. Jonny was put in Adams race group although Jonny would race under the junior category. Throughout the motos it was mainly Mr Carr taking the wins in the 19+ category, Jonny and Vinyard where busy battling throughout the motos. Adam took the 19+ final and overall points and Jonny took the overall points in junior men.
Grant Hill was on fire in the motos, mainly battling against Kelvin Bateys apprentice Dom from rotherham. It made for some good cheering from the DBMX camp. Grant did well and won the final without much trouble after Dom became trapped in the group shortly after the gate.
Carl was in a highly competative cruiser class with the majority of the MTB crew having bought cruisers over the winter this would. Ryan vinyard was also racing in this category so the cruiser class was sent down shortly after the novices had finished. The racing was fast and relitivley close, not sure how Carl did in his motos 3rds 4ths and 5ths I think finishing 5th overall in the points.
The MTB category was revived this season which was good news for me, the usual MTB crew turned up. Me, Kriss Brown, Callam Baines and 3 others. After a winter of riding DH I was feeling confident about finishing the race in one piece. All of my races followed the same pattern me getting the snap and powering down to the 3rd double into the berm only to be jumped over by Mr brown, really need to get that jump done. With 2nds throughout all my races I was happy.
Overall A good days racing for DBMX
