Fat Face urban downhill nite race report.

What an event this was!! Adam and I went up to race in Scarborough last weekend and had an incredible time. The track was right in the centre of Scarborough town riding downhill from the castle and in to the marina at the bottom of the hill. The course was brilliant compromising of lots of steps, some manmade wooden jumps, a mega-fast tarmac section followed by more steps and a drop to the finish.

Adam at full knacker!

How did we do? Well I took 20th in hardtail (no training, no fitness, no crashes, I am happy) and Adam took none other than 1st place in hardtail. Impressive stuff, especially when you consider that there was a large collection of sponsored and even professional riders who he beat in the process to his winning time of 1:21.833. There should be a lot of team managers scratching their heads as to how an unsponsored rider has beaten their entire race team who ride downhill for a living on their expensive factory bikes whilst Adam made do with a Trek bruiser with Max Daddy 1.85" tyres!! Also a big shout out to Rich Batey who took the Senior 19-29 win with a time of 1:16.751 on his Orange 224 evo.

Batey flying.

The final night time runs were eventually cancelled due to the terrible weather and following a big crash in the final set of steps the course was closed due to being considered unsafe to ride. I heard a guy fractured his skull on some metal railings! All in all though, a brilliant event. Good track, good atmosphere dispite the weather, good results for DBMX.co.uk team and a good night out to follow. Definitely one for next year i think!

Racing, trophies and crashes

Another good day for the DBMX crew, this time at bulwell the BMX track that has beaches for berms. The track had been recently re-surfaced but without the needed rain it was just like a beachL. 1st straight had been changed with a super huge speed bump. Although I only jumped the 2nd straight completely a couple of times it was ACE, the lips felt mint and just kicked you into space.

As always everyone was flying round the track as that’s all DBMX know how to do, but unfortunately Mr Teeth had a crash during practice done his bicep in and will be out for a couple of weeks even though he still raced 3 motos and didn’t place last in any of them. Diko’s training had paid of as he was placing in each of his motos and also racked up his 1st win. Me, Carr and Woodward were all in the same category 17+, this would be fun although I was a bit nervous you’ve just got to get on with it although when your first gate in 17+ has got, TJ, Yearsley, Raz, Carr, and a few other big names the nerves start to kick in again 7th out of 7 not bothered though. Jonny won his 1st moto and him and adam proceeded to the A final while I enjoyed the B yet again got the holeshot but after that it went tits up.

The youth of DBMX did rather well too, Ginner won all his moto’s and I think his final. Brad, Grant and Davis also did well although brad needs to learn to clip in on the gateJ. Tommy lee was annihilating his competition placing in all of his races including one of his moto’s when he got a puncture going round the track.

The 2008 series trophies were awarded with a free super small tee shirt for me and Adam from route55 bmx training.
